I recently curated a show at the 71A Gallery on Leonard Street in East London for Skateistan. Skateistan began as a Kabul-based Afghan NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) and is now an International non-profit charity providing skateboarding and educational programming in Afghanistan, Cambodia and Pakistan. Skateistan is non-political, independent, and inclusive of all ethnicities, religions and social backgrounds.

The work I curated was a mixture of photography representing street life in Kabul and photos taken by Skateistan students of their daily lives. Using disposable cameras they captured their homes, friends and of course skateboarding.

Myself and Jacqueline Ford are setting a brief for the next PAPERSHAKERS night on Friday 28th October. We would like you to submit a Halloween themed image which can be produced as an edition, screen printed, printed, hand drawn – it’s up to you. We are looking to promote and sell 10 people’s work alongside our own on the night. So here’s a good chance to get your work out there into the public domain and to discover other people’s at the same time. Please get in touch for more details.
